• Buy energy efficient appliances – Purchasing energy efficient appliances is a great way to create energy efficient homes. Appliances like refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, washing machines and stoves take all kinds of energy from your home. If you have older appliances, chances are that you will end up spending even more money on energy than you would if you had newer appliances. Newer energy efficient appliances are even better.

• New windows – Some people fail to realize how much new windows can make normal homes into energy efficient homes. Older windows are often single-paned and not built with the same technology that today’s newer windows are built with. Because of this, the windows let in and out air that should be sealed. If a person cannot afford new windows all throughout the home, simply replacing a few windows in key areas should be able to help the homeowner see savings.

By using energy efficient appliances and newer windows, you should be able to see results in trying to create energy efficient homes.
